2/27/2012 5:37:26 PM Supply, Demand, Currency and Futures – The Truth About Gas Prices By Robert Ringer - Monday, February 27, 2012 Our old friend, “pain at the pump,” is with us once again, and this time it promises to be far more painful than the last time around. “Pain at the pump” is a nice little catchphrase, but I’ve never been able to figure out why people pick on gas. After all, isn’t it just as painful to pay $250,000 for a house that used to cost $8,000? Or $30,000 for a car that once cost $2,000? And what about the skyrocketing prices of such basic foods as milk, bread, and eggs? The fact is that the price of gasoline is relative. Relative to what Americans have been used to paying, $4.00-$5.00 a gallon sounds like a lot. And $6.00-$7.00 a gallon — which is almost certain to come — is going to sound like a lot more. But relative to what countries such as the UK, France, and the Netherlands have been paying for years, these prices are no big deal. But what, exactly, drives up gas prices? Some of the major factors include: Supply. So long as “environmentalists” have their way, our lack of accessible domestic supply assures that gas prices will continue to rise. The far left, intent on bringing about a green-energy society, cheers on Richard Nixon’s creation, the Environmental Protection Agency, as it continues to stifle oil production at every turn. Obama’s refusal to build the Keystone Pipeline is just the latest example of how committed the green crowd is to bringing oil production to a standstill. Demand. The emergence of China and India as economic superpowers, not to mention smaller emerging economic powers such as Chile and Brazil, assures continued upward pressure on energy prices, even if the growth of these economies slows in the coming years. Middle East tensions. Summed up in one word: Iran. Currency devaluation. Above all, the Federal Reserve continues to quietly increase the money supply, which puts unrelenting downward pressure on the U.S. dollar. What makes the continual devaluation of the dollar a unique factor is that it creates the illusion that gas prices are rising. Futures market. Speculators take all of the above factors, and more, into consideration and bet on the future price of oil — the usual result of which is to drive prices still higher. Of course, there are other factors that play into the equation as well, such as the 18.4˘ per gallon federal excise tax, but the biggest drivers of high gas prices are the five that I’ve listed above. Even so, there is an even bigger reason why gas prices are sure to rise dramatically in the future: the coming “excess-profits tax.” In less gentle terms, I’m talking about increased government confiscation of oil-company profits. This theft will cause oil companies to pull in their horns and put the brakes not only on oil drilling, but on research for alternative sources of energy as well. The class-warfare folks in the nation’s capital have a slam dunk when it comes to demonizing the major oil companies. They conveniently ignore the fact that the five largest oil companies — Chevron, Shell, BP, ExxonMobil, and ConocoPhillips — make a bit over 6 percent profit on sales, or about one-fourth the profit margin that Google enjoys. That being the case, one wonders why the kleptomaniacs in Washington don’t slap Google with an excess-profits tax. Of course, some would argue that people don’t need Google, but they do need gas. Need, however, is a subjective term. It is simply a euphemism for want. Everyone claims to need gas, which simply means they want it. They also want to pay less for gas and less for cars, food, housing, medical care, and baseball, football, and basketball tickets. Worse, pandering politicians have convinced them that not only are their desires needs, but their needs are “rights.” Presto: Just like that, inexpensive gas becomes a right. Let’s face it, if you’re on a tight budget, which most people are, paying anything for anything is painful. But so long as people continue to buy an item, regardless of what that item may be, it is proof positive that the so-called pain experienced in paying for it is not great enough for them to make the decision to do without it. When the history of Western civilization is written, it will be clear to all that it was not Islamic terrorism that brought it down. The culprit will be the perverse, widespread belief that people have a right to anything they happen to desire. This uncivilized notion assures a continuing inflation of our currency and, as a result, continually increasing prices — including gas prices — no matter what other factors are at play. It’s too bad that spoiled, uninformed Americans do not understand that higher prices are a direct result of all the “free” stuff they get from government — especially under the label of “entitlement programs.” If all personal and corporate welfare were eliminated and people and corporations were forced to live in accordance with marketplace realities, most prices would decline quickly — and dramatically. We may have to go through a dictatorship or two to get there, but, hopefully, Americans will ultimately rise up again and get back to more hard work and less free stuff. China is doing it. India is doing it. Vietnam is doing it. And there is no reason that Americans can’t someday do it again. But that won’t happen until the pain becomes so unbearable that welfare addicts realize that they are no longer getting the best of the redistribution-of-wealth scam. That’s when they might be motivated to push back against the tide of totalitarianism and opt for more freedom in lieu of free stuff. And if that happens, a phrase like “pain at the pump” would be little more than a worn-out anachronism. An intensive investigation has revealed the identity of the man whose Social Security number (SSN) is being used by President Obama: Jean Paul Ludwig, who was born in France in 1890, immigrated to the United States in 1924, and was assigned SSN 042-68-4425 (Obama's current SSN) on or about March 1977. Ludwig lived most of his adult life in Connecticut . Because of that, his SSN begins with the digits 042, which are among only a select few reserved for Connecticut residents. Obama never lived or worked in that state! Therefore, there is no reason on earth for his SSN to start with the digits 042. None whatsoever! Now comes the best part! Ludwig spent the final months of his life in Hawaii , where he died. Conveniently, Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, worked part-time in the Probate Office in the Honolulu Hawaii Courthouse, and therefore had access to the SSNs of deceased individuals. The Social Security Administration was never informed of Ludwig's death, and because he never received Social Security benefits there were no benefits to stop and therefore, no questions were ever raised. The suspicion, of course, is that Dunham, knowing her grandson was not a U.S. Citizen, either because he was born in Kenya or became a citizen of Indonesia upon his adoption by Lolo Soetoro simply scoured the probate records until she found someone who died who was not receiving Social Security benefits, and selected Mr. Ludwigs Connecticut SSN for Obama. Just wait until Trump gets past the birth certificate and onto the issue of Barry O's use of a stolen SSN. You will see leftist heads exploding, because they will have no way of defending Obama. Although many Americans do not understand the meaning of the term "natural born" there are few who do not understand that if you are using someone else's SSN it is a clear indication of fraud. Let's all get this information out to everybody on our mailing lists. Back in 1961 people of color were called 'Negroes.' So how can the Obama 'birth certificate' state he is 'African-American' when the term wasn't even used at that time? 2. The birth certificate that the White House released lists Obama's birth as August 4, 1961. It also lists Barack Hussein Obama as his father. No big deal, right? At the time of Obama's birth, it also shows that his father is aged 25 years old, and that Obama's father was born in " Kenya , East Africa ". This wouldn't seem like anything of concern, except the fact that Kenya did not even exist until 1963, two whole years after Obama's birth, and 27 years after his father's birth. How could Obama's father have been born in a country that did not yet exist? Up and until Kenya was formed in 1963, it was known as the " British East Africa Protectorate". 3. On the birth certificate released by the White House, the listed place of birth is " Kapi'olaniMaternity & Gynecological Hospital ". This cannot be, because the hospital(s) in question in 1961 were called "KauiKeolani Children's Hospital" and "Kapi'olani Maternity Home", respectively. The name did not change to Kapi'olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital until 1978, when these two hospitals merged. How can this particular name of the hospital be on a birth certificate dated 1961 if this name had not yet been applied to it until 1978? R. 347 One Hundred Twelfth Congress of the United States of America AT THE SECOND SESSION Begun and held at the City of Washington on Tuesday, the third day of January, two thousand and twelve An Act To correct and simplify the drafting of section 1752 (relating to restricted buildings or grounds) of title 18, United States Code. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011’’. SEC. 2. RESTRICTED BUILDING OR GROUNDS. Section 1752 of title 18, United States Code, is amended to read as follows: ‘‘§ 1752. Restricted building or grounds ‘‘(a) Whoever— ‘‘(1) knowingly enters or remains in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority to do so; ‘‘(2) knowingly, and with intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions, engages in disorderly or disruptive conduct in, or within such proximity to, any restricted building or grounds when, or so that, such conduct, in fact, impedes or disrupts the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions; ‘‘(3) knowingly, and with the intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions, obstructs or impedes ingress or egress to or from any restricted building or grounds; or ‘‘(4) knowingly engages in any act of physical violence against any person or property in any restricted building or grounds; or attempts or conspires to do so, shall be punished as provided in subsection (b). ‘‘(b) The punishment for a violation of subsection (a) is— ‘‘(1) a fine under this title or imprisonment for not more than 10 years, or both, if— ‘‘(A) the person, during and in relation to the offense, uses or carries a deadly or dangerous weapon or firearm; or ‘‘(B) the offense results in significant bodily injury as defined by section 2118(e)(3); and ‘‘(2) a fine under this title or imprisonment for not more than one year, or both, in any other case. ‘‘(c) In this section— H. R. 347—2 ‘‘(1) the term ‘restricted buildings or grounds’ means any posted, cordoned off, or otherwise restricted area— ‘‘(A) of the White House or its grounds, or the Vice President’s official residence or its grounds; ‘‘(B) of a building or grounds where the President or other person protected by the Secret Service is or will be temporarily visiting; or ‘‘(C) of a building or grounds so restricted in conjunction with an event designated as a special event of national significance; and ‘‘(2) the term ‘other person protected by the Secret Service’ means any person whom the United States Secret Service is authorized to protect under section 3056 of this title or by Presidential memorandum, when such person has not declined such protection.’’. Obama the "Socialist" Saved Capitalism by Giving Welfare to Wall Street and Red States Wall Street must be effusively thankful for what the Tea Party, the Right Wing and FOX News claim: Obama is a "socialist." After all, that must be the reason that the stock market climbed to the highest level in five years on February 28, according to ABC News: The Dow Jones industrial average closed above 13,000 for the first time since 2008, capping a remarkable run-up in stocks that has coincided with a revival of consumer confidence to levels not seen since well before the economic downturn began. It takes a "socialist," apparently, to create a financial environment in which the stock market has been soaring. And then there's the "socialist" influence that has propelled economic growth since the "free market" collapse of the economy under George W. Bush. According to CNN, the "gross domestic product, the broadest measure of the nation's economy, grew at a 3% annual rate in the fourth quarter of 2011." "We are seeing what historically would be considered a healthy growth rate for the country," said Brian Hamilton, CEO of Sageworks, a financial information company. "Last quarter compares very favorably to the GDP growth rate over the past few years and indicates the country continues to recover from the recession." Remember that it was Obama who went along and did the second TARP installment of providing government welfare to Wall Street to keep capitalism from collapsing. It has been under Obama that no Wall Street honchos have been prosecuted for playing fast and loose with financial transactions that nearly brought the US to its economic knees. Under this White House, major banks also got off without any prosecution for illegal foreclosure transactions. If that is what a "socialist" does to the economy, Lord help Wall Street if a "capitalist" is elected. Furthermore, as has been pointed out in the past - most recently in Alternet, it is the political Blue states who, in general, provide tax dollars to support the Red states. Take a red state like Mississippi, which sucks up $2.73 in federal support for every dollar its residents pay in national taxes. Compare that to Illinois, which lose 8 cents on the dollar and only gets 92 cents back from DC. Gov. Jan Brewer's Arizona gets net revenue of 60 extra cents back from federal taxes, while Minnesota loses 36 cents on tax dollars paid into the IRS. In short - and in general - one can argue that the "reddest" states that have politicians and Tea Party advocates proclaiming that they are living under "socialist" leadership are most often the ones benefiting from a redistribution of blue state income tax dollars subsidizing red states. So why don't the red states return that money to the "socialist" government in DC? Furthermore, states with two Republican "free market" senators get the highest average rate of redistributed tax dollars at $1.49 cents, according to Talking Points Memo. You would think that the right wingers shouting that Obama is a relic of the Soviet Union should be thanking him for saving capitalism, providing a climate for large corporations to soar in profits, giving bailout money to the banks, and providing red states with redistributed income tax funds to survive. If this is "socialism," Romney, Santorum, Gingrich, Pallin, and Bachmann should be praying on their knees for more of it, along with the Tea Party Medicare crowd who oppose "socialized" medicine. |

I, Gene Hackemack, received this email from my good friend Tedd Petruna, a diver at the NBL facility [Neutral Buoyancy Lab], at NASA Houston, whom I used to work with. Tedd happened to be on this same Flt. 297, Atlanta to Houston . In my opinion, the Muslims are all getting very brave now...read Tedd's story below . PS: Can you imagine, our own news media now are so politically correct that they are afraid to report that these were all Muslims.... unbelievable. Thank God for people like Tedd Petruna. "One week ago, I went to Ohio on business and to see my father.. On Tuesday, November the 17th, I returned home. If you read the papers the 18th you may have seen a blurb where a AirTran flight was canceled from Atlanta to Houston due to a man who refused to get off of his cell phone before takeoff. It was on Fox. This was NOT what happened. I was in 1st class coming home. 11 Muslim men got on the plane in full attire. 2 sat in 1st class and the rest peppered themselves throughout the plane all the way to the back. As the plane taxied to the runway the stewardesses gave the safety spiel we are all so familiar with. At that time, one of the men got on his cell and called one of his companions in the back and proceeded to talk on the phone in Arabic very loudly and very aggressively.. This took the 1st stewardess out of the picture for she repeatedly told the man that cell phones were not permitted at the time. He ignored her as if she was not there. The 2nd man who answered the phone did the same and this took out the 2nd stewardess. In the back of the plane at this time, 2 younger Muslims, one in the back, isle, and one in front of him, window, began to show footage of a porno they had taped the night before, and were very loud about it. Now - they are only permitted to do this prior to Jihad. If a Muslim man goes into a strip club, he has to view the woman via mirror with his back to her.. (don't ask me..I don't make the rules, but I've studied) The 3 rd stewardess informed them that they were not to have electronic devices on at this time. To which one of the men said "Shut up infidel dog!" She went to take the camcorder and he began to scream in her face in Arabic. At that exact moment, all 11 of them got up and started to walk the cabin. This is where I had had enough! I got up and started to the back where I heard a voice behind me from another Texan twice my size say "I got your back." I grabbed the man who had been on the phone by the arm and said "you WILL go sit down or you Will be thrown from this plane!" As I "led" him around me to take his seat, the fellow Texan grabbed him by the back of his neck and his waist and headed out with him. I then grabbed the 2nd man and said, "You WILL do the same!" He protested but adrenaline was flowing now and he was going to go.. As I escorted him forward the plane doors open and 3 TSA agents and 4 police officers entered. Me and my new Texan friend were told to cease and desist for they had this under control. I was happy to oblige actually. There was some commotion in the back, but within moments, all 11 were escorted off the plane. They then unloaded their luggage. We talked about the occurrence and were in disbelief that it had happened, when suddenly, the door open again and on walked all 11!! Stone faced, eyes front and robotic (the only way I can describe it). The stewardess from the back had been in tears and when she saw this, she was having NONE of it! Being that I was up front, I heard and saw the whole ordeal. She told the TSA agent there was NO WAY she was staying on the plane with these men. The agent told her they had searched them and were going to go through their luggage with a fine tooth comb and that they were allowed to proceed to Houston. The captain and co-captain came out and told the agent "we and our crew will not fly this plane!" After a word or two, the entire crew, luggage in tow, left the plane. 5 minutes later, the cabin door opened again and a whole new crew walked on. Again...this is where I had had enough!!! I got up and asked "What the hell is going on!?!?" I was told to take my seat. They were sorry for the delay and I would be home shortly. I said "I'm getting off this plane". The stewardess sternly told me that she could not allow me to get off. (Now I'm mad!) I said "I am a grown man who bought this ticket, who's time is mine with a family at home and I am going through that door, or I'm going through that door with you under my arm!! But I am going through that door!!" And I heard a voice behind me say "so am I". Then everyone behind us started to get up and say the same. Within 2 minutes, I was walking off that plane where I was met with more agents who asked me to write a statement. I had 5 hours to kill at this point so why the hell not. Due to the amount of people who got off that flight, it was canceled. I was supposed to be in Houston at 6pm. I got here at 12:30am. Look up the date. Flight 297 Atlanta to Houston . If this wasn't a dry run, I don't know what one is. The terrorists wanted to see how TSA would handle it, how the crew would handle it, and how the passengers would handle it. I'm telling this to you because I want you to know. The threat is real.
