Limit order - STO 300 shares of SCO at $37.00. May move this down a bit if it doesn't fill by the end of the day.
++++++++++++

STO 500 shares of SCO at $36.99 - I upped the number of shares since I rolled out of my TVIX short trade.

Massive TVIX collapse - down almost 20% in pre-market after the French election results. I would not have thought the election was as important as the looming government shutdown this Friday (which will be resolved late Thursday night by passing yet another stopgap spending bill).

Will add to my current JDST position at $18.00 if it gets that high.

Limit order - STO 1000 shares of JDST at $18.00

This will give me an adjusted position of short 2000 shares at $17.00.

Added 1000 shares to my JDST short position at $20.00

Now short 2000 shares of JDST at an average cost of $18.00. Not psyched to have to add to this position - this was triggered off of a DUST short signal that I could not get shares to short.

Update on JDST trade - I have been in this trade longer than I had planned, and after the reverse split I was short 500 shares at $72.00. When JDST hit $99 I doubled down (again) so that I was now 1000 shares short at an average price of $85.50.

This is not how the system is meant to be traded. With JDST currently at about $83 I am up nicely on this trade but recognize it was poorly managed.

Limit order - BTC 1000 shares of JDST at $82.50.

I will post the eventual close out of my SCO trade here, but want to shift the focus of this thread slightly.

Given the structural issues with most triply-leveraged ETFs like the ones I have been shorting here, a number of folks over the past 5 years have discussed the simpler strategy of shorting both sides of a given 3x leveraged pair, and allow time to drive the value of each ETF down. This is clearly supported by historical data (how many times have people looked at TVIX or DUST and thought "man, if only I had shorted this two years ago ...").

Well, I'm changing the focus of this thread away from multi-system short term trades to one of simply holding both sides of a leveraged pair. Depending on your brokerage, there are always borrowing costs for this type of trade, which might be rather high on an annualized basis - I looked at the aggregate SLB rates for the 3x ETFs I will be assessing, and the average was 7.5-8.0% per annum. I'll not be tracking these costs daily but they can easily be factored in as needed.

To see how this might work, I started tracking 8 different pairs of ETFs, shorting on paper $5000 of each as of the close on 5/10. I'll be periodically updating this list, probably on the weekends, and will track the relative and absolute performance of each pair and the total investment.

Here is the table for these trades (all trades currently set at their entry values):
