So who are the idiots going to the hospital emergency room when a "Minor Emergency Clinic" is sufficient?

I can think of several reasons for the big difference in cost:

-- A lot more equipment is available at the emergency room. Equipment has to be paid for.
-- The "Minor Emergency Clinic" may not even have a doctor available
-- The "Minor Emergency Clinic" can forward the more difficult cases to the hospital emergency room
-- The hospital costs include a surcharge for those that can't pay their bills (about 40% or so last I heard)

Actually, when I was at the hospital in 2007 for kidney failure, my bill had some interesting clauses on it:

-- 50% discount if the bill was paid in full within 21 days
-- 75% discount if the bill was paid in full within 7 days

Just the ambulance trip was $766.

We are all paying for those with out insurance any way thats why emergency rooms cost so much......good people go bankrupt.....others are turned away from life saving treatement because they cant pay for it. Dont get too worked up nothing will change.....a few small token changes thats it.

The ones with the most money will always win the fight. Its the American way.

Question:

When do we decide enough is enough, take up arms and just say "NO" to the government?

Seriously, how much of our freedom are we going to give up? Government does not give you your freedom, government takes away your freedom.

Nazi Germany: "SHOW ME YOUR PAPERS" if you want to travel.

America 2009: "SHOW ME YOUR PAPERS" if you want to travel.

Don't tell me "it's different". You better realize the similarities are too dang scary!!

You think you live in a Democracy or Republic, think again! You are a serf. There are lords that you must pay taxes to or they take away what is yours. Think I am wrong? Do you own your home even after the mortgage is paid? NO! Fail to pay property tax and the lords take your property from you.

Power is the greatest aphrodisiac. This is all about politics and strengthening the Democratic voter base. By taxing the minority (higher-income productive wage earners and entrepreneurs) and redistributing this wealth to the majority (lower-income, non-productive, non-contributing elements of society) the Democrats have a club they can use in every election.

"Vote for me (again) or you'll lose your freebies"

We (the productive) are subsidizing our own downfall. It's really "Taxation Without Representation" all over again. Unfortunately, so far, there is no organized opposition leadership. The Republicans haven't lead the storm of protest over the "Obama/Pelosi/Reidcare" plans, it's been "we the people" (where's Joe the Plumber when you could use him?).

Next time you hear the refrain about health care costs getting out of control think about this; a congressman (even without all the perks) makes 10-20% more than the average primary care physician , and the average congressional aide has a higher income than the average Registered Nurse.

I say bring the cost of government under control, force these idiots to fly coach like the rest of us, dump their gold-plated health care plan and require them to get their insurance the same way we do, lower my taxes to a reasonable level by requiring everyone to at least pay something, and I could easily afford health care.

I'm sorry to say I just don't see a way out of this for years.

Democratic Party.....NO
Republican Party.....Certainly not yet and not looking too promising
Libertarian Party......Too scattered and ineffective
Tea Party.....This has possibilities but needs leadership

Very good point, but, no one believes this could happen because we have become more government oriented than self oriented. The recent political comments about "the rich will pay for it" should scare the sh**t out of people but it will not. Thing a bell curve. When those not producing are getting more from than those producing and can vote on it, game over. Franz Kafka had a great saying, "Reality does not knock at your door, it knocks at your teeth".

The problem is TOO MANY PEOPLE.

Because of the population size, THE PEOPLE can NOT be united. The POWERS THAT TAX know this and keep THE PEOPLE fighting amongst themselves. DIVIDE AND CONQUER.

Any real attempt at uniting enough people will be met with FORCE.

The mainstream media is the lap dog of the government. The media is supposed to be the watchdog. The internet is the only hope of getting to the truth.

What would happen if someone refused to pay their property tax but had 1,000 or more armed friends guarding their property to keep the government from taking it? What if 1,000 became 10,000? And 100,000 became 1,000,000? And 1,000,000 became 10,000,000? Do you see how WE THE PEOPLE can stop the POWERS THAT TAX? That is why we have the second amendment.

The "free" internet as you view it today will be a thing of history within 5-7 years...if not sooner.

Bandwidth.

Information/disinformation as perceived by governments.

Security threat materializing and as with ALL government functions, bureaucracies making decisions on what and whom is a threat. You, disgruntled warrior, are a threat with your tea parties and anti-big government thoughts and actions.

Iran put internet measures in place because of the elections. China is watching carefully.

Does anyone think WE THE PEOPLE are immune?

We must be saved for our own good of course.

:)

To jrbikes:

Regarding your concern with illegal aliens, you obviously do not live in George Bush's neighborhood in Dallas. I'm sure he would not put up with them trashing the place. I mean he stopped those illegals didn't he?
